Your workplace culture may be your competitive advantage
April 5, 2018

I had the opportunity to tune in to Knowledge@Wharton show on SiriusXM channel 111 with Todd Davis, Chief People Officer for FranklinCovey. The interview was centered on his new book, Get Better: 15 Proven Practices to Build Effective Relationships at Work. In this interview, they discussed how getting a workplace culture right starts with the basics of interpersonal relationships.

A key point Davis makes about workplace culture is that, “Culture boils down the collective behavior of your people and the relationships between them.”

Davis said, “We’ve got to have the right people, the right talent. But it’s the nature of the relationships between those people that really create that competitive advantage. I think it’s critical, and it’s really what makes or breaks the success and effectiveness of an organization.”

Positive Workplace CultureAt IOCI, this really speaks to our philosophy of Spirited Business®. We believe in Spirited Business® as an enabling force behind all we do. We aim to help our clients build spirited cultures by cultivating empowering, passionate and purposeful environments.

Having healthy, productive relationships in the workplace is a the core of what makes a Spirited Business® thrive.

In a recent series on relationships in the workplace, we did an interview with Karen Bridbord, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist and executive coach in the New York metropolitan area; Bridbord assures that relationship issues also come up in the workplace and not only affect productivity, but can stall those hoping to advance their careers.

Bridbord, who’s part of the IOCI coaching team, works with systems – couples, families and, yes, companies, who are seeking help with issues connected to relationships.
