Kathi is a leadership coach who provides thought leadership to executives and entrepreneurs as they enhance their ability and foster the mindset necessary to become valuable, positive and fulfilled leaders. She works with emerging leaders through the C-suite in the private, nonprofit and public sectors.

Kathi holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Virginia Tech.

Experience

Kathi was previously a managing director with The McLean Group, an investment bank to middle-market firms, assisting business owners in the sale of their companies. She has served as direct advisory team lead or co-lead on numerous successful mergers and acquisitions (M&A) engagements. She is an experienced M&A professional, providing transaction advice, exit planning, consulting and executive coaching to business owners and their teams.

For 15 years, she worked directly with companies that specialize in a wide range of products and services, including government contracting, information technology, cybersecurity, training, travel and hospitality, and consumer-related products.

Prior to her investment banking career, Kathi worked in the telecommunications industry in various consulting, engineering and sales management positions. She began her career working as a professional services contractor responsible for the design, development and implementation of systems for the Department of Defense.

She is a board member for Five Talents, a provider of microenterprise programs in the poorest countries in the world, and is passionate about serving the world’s most vulnerable populations.

Due to her experiences on her own career path, Kathi’s particularly enthusiastic about assisting executives who are looking to make bigger business impacts, do meaningful work and who seek thought partnership to refine their perspectives as they lead.

As an executive coach, Kathi leverages her extensive business experience to understand the challenges her executive clients face in today’s business environment. In her M&A transactional work, she guided her clients through a very stressful process to achieve major life goals. Using these skills on behalf of coaching clients, Kathi assists her clients in finding ways to work through difficult situations while balancing the stress in their lives. She believes the journey is as significant as the goal.

The best way to describe Kathi’s coaching style is one of partnership. Kathi recognizes the talents, skills and abilities each client brings to their work. She helps leaders assess where they are and where they’d like to go. Together, they plot a path to achieve the client’s desired outcomes.

Kathi has in-depth, hands-on experience in coaching, leadership, M&A, exit planning, project management and team performance. Special areas of expertise include leadership development, executive and leadership coaching, communication skills, team dynamics and performance, self-awareness, confidence, managing change, working with technical/analytical leaders, difficult conversations, presentation skills, strategic networking and leadership presence.
