Craig is an experienced and passionate C-level nonprofit association leader skilled at defining and successfully delivering strategic impact. As an association executive and consultant, Craig has a strong track record of creating grass-roots marketing and communication campaigns, as well as influencing federal and state policy.

Education

Craig holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and sociology from Eisenhower College and attended the professional development program in association management sponsored by the American Society of Association Executives and the College of Business and Management, University of Maryland.

Experience

Craig began his career in Washington, D.C., as an association executive and lobbyist, representing domestic issues for the construction materials and building services contracting industries. He went on to work promoting U.S. foreign policy interests in the Middle East.
For the last 15 years, Craig represented education interests as an executive director of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) and chief external relations officer for the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

Expertise

At ISTE and NBPTS, Craig worked with education, corporate and public policy leaders, directing strategic initiatives that drove organizational transformation and public policy at the national, state and local levels. He has in-depth experience in implementing strategic plans; advocating for federal and state legislative and regulatory policy; conducting membership, branding, marketing and communication campaigns; and programming large and small events efforts that advanced organizational visions and missions.

As a senior leader with several national trade associations, Craig has extensive expertise implementing long-range strategic plans, a state-of-the-art association management program, improving industry brands and marketing of one of the nation’s largest international trade shows. Additionally, he developed and administered a national trade association’s government affairs program, advocating for corporate and industry interests in Washington, D.C.

Craig also has significant international experience in advancing education initiatives as well as in leading U.S.-Middle East diplomacy efforts through educational and cultural programming.
